Re - Changing Dial LED’s

After seeing the "blue dials" post I am gonna have a go at doing this on my mk2 over the next few days.. what i wanna know is .......... When removing the needles do i just need to mark/remember the position they were when i pulled them off or do i have to keep the centre pin i take them off in an exact position? Does anyone know?

your best bet is to mark where they were but they are a b**ch to get off. so they will move a bit when you try and pull them off

Yeah ive done it before on a few cars.. but on older cars the needles were on a kind of spring mounted pin and the pin needed to be held in position with a peg or something to keep it positioned right. Im assuming coz its a new car that the needles just pull off and slot straight back on.. But im sure when it comes to it that it wont be any where near that straight forward lol

yeah i bought a set of dials the other day to practice on.

the needles are mounted on the shaft of a small motor that is free to move all the way around:(

oooh sounds good. Id love some nice blue or maybe red dials but im just to sh!t scared to do them myself. You know anyway to replace all of the other LEDs? To make all of the interior lights blue. Like el golfo.

Im gonna try and get the dials, a/c display, and centre display all done. Cant be that hard and theres always superglue for anything i break lolol

i reckon red needles on blue numbers etc... would look cool as f**k

Not possible sorry... but then again anything is possible if you are a hardcore modder :p

Around the base of the needle is around 4 LEDs.... these light the dials up.... they also light the needle up. as the needle moves around the dial... it picks up the light source from another LED around the base of the LED.
