Will a simple remap on a 172 alter the rev limiter. Mine seems to red line fairly early, at about 6500/6750 rpm. I've heard people mention red lining at 7800 rpm.
it will be changed to a higer limit if you ask... tbh they usually set it to the point where it stops making power. around 7200rpm would be more than enough in a 172... in fact 7k+ it's probably losing power and wants to change gear...
Depends on the engine temp of the car i think? If the car's cold i'm sure the limit is set lower until full running temp is met, then you can ring out all 7250rpm
I think it's 6750 when the engine is cold and 7250 once warmed up.
I've had the limiter increased on mine (because Kully did ). It made it's peak power on the rolling road recently at 6900, so no need to increase it really!
as above, my limit is higher than I need it, revs to 7600 or 7800, but peak power is pretty much bang on 7k... it still makes power after that, just not as much...
