Really annoying tyres!

Since I swapped from the ph2 alloys to my refurbed turinis the car is rubbish!

I've had GSD3's on my last 3 cars and always rated them so I was happy to find these turinis with them already on 6mm tread all round..

The car is simply crap though! it WILL NOT turn without slipping, it won't pull away without spinning up, even at standard pulling out of t junction speeds etc etc... It also skips round tight bends sideways rather than turning smoothly, getting off my drive is really annoying, all you hear is the wheels/tyres hopping along.

I know they're summer tyres primarily but I remember them being alot better than this. The ph2's have sportrac 3's on them and to be honest if I drove now how I did with those on I'd end up in a wall or hedge!

Thoughts? :)

Stop buying cheap Tyres ;) they sound awful to be fare and if you can't trust the car you drive there is no fun to be had :(

This is what I don't get, they've always served me well but these are total poo lol, I'm going to swap back over the weekend to the ph2's and see how I get on.

I might aswell be in a 1.2 with budgets on for all the fun I can have with it at the moment :(

Maybe I'm asking too much of a more summer orientated tyre in winter? I do nights so it tends to be always -1 or something like that when I go to work and get home!

f**k it I'll make a decision in the summer! The thing thats pissing me off the most is the skipping on near to full lock - I thought at first it was the tyres but maybe its partly to do with the increased offset? is this something the cups do?

The sportracs were good in the wet and cold but they are all season I guess - tyre pressures didn't make much of a difference either!

"summer tyres"?

I used to run Goodyear Eagles all year round on an MX-5 and never had an issue.

Unless you've got some cut-slicks on, all tyres should be able to work in the cold, it's just standing water and snow that'll screw it.

As for cold tyres, take note of the F1 boys. Find somewhere safe, spin up your wheels, swerve from side to side and brake like crazy. A few minutes of that and you'll at least have some front-end.

There was a dodgy batch of gsd3's doing the rounds last yr, made in the far east iirc. Have a look where your's are made (should say on the sidewall).

Well I mean they're always listed as summer tyres, rather than all weather tyres but yeh they should be able to be used all year round just like any tyre.

It's 3 degrees outside - I'm going for a play :)

made in germany - just been for a blast and its much better now its dry and warmer! think I'll get the wheels alligned and take it from there - adapted my pressures too much happier with the balance.

See now your awake. You can concentrate and drive it lol. It is possibly oil or diesel off the car park at work.

There was a tread bout winter tyres a month or so ago, someone mentioned that summer tyres don't work effectivly below 7C or something like that. I notice it a bit with my tyres when its cold. But it sounds alot worse than mine from what your saying!

Also how old are the tyres? I read somewhere that tyres that have sat around for a while can perish and significantly reduce performance?

^^^ I remember that thread now you've popped it up - I guess when the weather gets better these tyres will come back to me, I think I've just been spoilt by how good the sportracs have been in cold, icy conditions.
