Rear Brake Adjustment

  BMW M135i
Do the rear discs on the clio self adjust as per handbrake operation and the wear of the pads/disc/cable?

My handbrake won't hold on the car on a steep (1:4) hill unless its ratched up really high probably talking 10 clicks or so. Was just going to adjust the cable but i'm wondering if the calipers are supposed to self adjust?

The rear discs on my old mans mondeo use a self adjusting system but the adjusters tend to sieze up and need freeing off the get the handbrake to adjust correctly.

The haynes manual shows a rear handbrake mechanism adjuster screw? How does this play into it? Is this what needs to be adjusted?

nope, just loosen off the cables, remove from calipers, pump pedal 5 times or so, re attach cables and retension the adjuster

Mines well slack too.

Tightend the cable up but after a few months its gone slack again.

Not sure if its a new cable i need or handbrake shoes

:S i just tighten up the cable under the handbrake (have to drop the centre section off to get to it
