Yes that will work.
Or you can try and get ur hand behind it (under bumper) and try pushing it. Quite hard to get to from the back due to bumper impact protection.

i tried to push it from the rear
and all i did was dent my thumbs i dont want to break the clips! anyone know if the clips are good or will brake??!i dont want to break my little cup
the plastic strip is strong, mines been rammed over by the car by accident, then had to sand it down and spray it myself

They do, but are a bit more tricky and might be a couple of screws. Have a search for colour coding guide there are some pics on how to remove it.
