  Clio 182 FF
Hi folks,
Clio 182 has been rear ended.
If this went through insurance, do you think it's a write off?
I have a mobile smart repair quote for £360 but could go up depending on what's behind it, going to visit some body shops tomorrow for quotes.
Boot lid / floor and quarter panel looks fine.

Other driver has admitted fault, but is trying the "my friend can fix that for £200 routine". He wants to avoid insurance.
Part of me also wants to avoid insurance as I'll have to declare non fault claim for the next 5 years and it increases my premium.
Main worry is risk insurance writing it off! In the past I've had a car written off over the phone without anyone seeing it.

Thanks for your input

Have you removed the bumper and interior trim to properly check the shell?

If it's straight and it's only the bumper that's damaged I would buy a second hand bumper and get it resprayed rather than fixing the current one.

This is exactly what I’d do too.

Would say it's a write off simply due to the book value the insurance will put on it. They'll price up a bumper, paint, bodyshop time and just say no thanks.

Take the money, but at least £500, it's a non-fault crash afterall.

This being my worry.
Having looked at eBay, there's only 1 silver bumper that will probably need more work on it than fixing the current one.
Decent condition bumpers are going for £100/£150+.

It's going to cost me regardless what option I take.

Providing it hasn’t tweaked the shell, which I doubt looking at those pics

Piss easy fix that

Don't get the insurance involved ref a claim fault or none fault, will affect your Premium going forward.

Come to an agreement to get the work done with a drink on top. He/you will appreciate that more than the first paragraph.

Insurance will write that off regardless

Just get a few hundred quid off whoever smacked you up the arse. I know someone that may have a Titanium 182 rear bumper that will be cheaper than £200

Just make sure it's not fucked the boot floor

This is what’s under there. It’s probably just pushed the bumper out from where I’ve drawn the circle.

20 minute job and a handful of rusty screws to whip the bumper off and check.

It’ll probably spring back into shape once the stress has been taken off.
