rear fog indicator when braking??

  Clio MK 4
When i brake the indicator for the rear fog lights is ever so slightly showing. It is dim but there? Even does it when all lights are off.

Any reason??

How strange, was going to post exactly the same thing!

I changed the brake light bulbs and it's still doing it but not as solidly lit as it was before.

Spoke to Mike at Rentech earlier today and he suggested cleaning the contacts.

Take your lights (the plastic part containing them) out of the main connector. You will find that there is rust in there or some form of corrosion. just use sand paper, a dremel, or a nail file to clear the surfaces of both the plug and the connector, you should be fine...its a common problem. :)

It's a conspiracy I tell thee!

No chance mate...French cars! Although you'd think that they'd seal the lights from getting water/condensation in them...wouldn't you!

IIRC its to do with them shorting out because of the corrosion, it goes through the fog light as that is where it earths so it will come on when breaking or indicating while braking.

Mine was doing this, sanded down the connections which helped a bit but what cured it was replacing my fucked number plate light, was about a tenner from the stealers. Looks much better as well, less yellow!

Speaks the truth. I had this prob a while ago, had a look at the connections and they had surface corrosion on them, cleaned it off and bent the pins slightly so they made a better connection and they have been fine since.
