Rear Fog light on when the Fogs aren't!

1.2 16v 2001 clio, the rear fog light light on the dash is on but the lights aren't on?

What the hell?

if the fog the light indicator on the dash is coming on when braking you have a bad earth on the rear lights, clean the connections up on the rear lights and that should cure it

Corrosion on the light cluster terminals.

I'v had the same problem happen with mine couple times but light on dashboard isn't fully on & lights up more when I apply brakes ... ! Be interested to know what the fault is..!
