Rear shocks.

The previous owner had a heavy sound system in the boot so with the weight it's pushed the rear shockers down and caused the back end of the car to sit lower than the front. Just wondering is there any way to raise the shockers back up to normal height or is it just a case of replacing them?

I've not had a proper look yet, haven't you ever come across it before? Every car I used for work when I was working as a joiner ended up like that, due to carrying tools around alot of the time. Never damaged the shockers just left the car looking slightly odd.

Bloody hell what kinda sound system are we talking! Im sure if its sitting low it would be the springs that have settled a little too much but I cant see it tbh.

Edit: as he said! ^

there are a few 182's being broke at the moment, have a look in the sale section, doubt springs will be too much. I know you've got a 172, but dont think the rear springs are much different. You sure its not the shocks? Wierd for the springs to drop loads?

You can get 35mm lowering springs from eurocarparts for about £60 for a 1.2 ..not sure how much a 172 would cost though.

Shame, I got rid of my original cup springs about a month ago!

It'll be the springs, as they determine the ride height with the standard shocks.

They've just sagged with the weight. I would expect the shocks to be pretty knackered too though, check for oil around the seals.

Had a good look around them this morning and never spotted any oil, I'm no mechanic so I guess I could have missed something.
