Rear shocks

Dad went to the local eurocar parts today and got chatting to them about my rear shocks, as 1 of them has gone. and they said they can do none genuine shocks for the sports as long as i tell them the code on my shock they can get them. Is this true i thought you could only get genuine shocks for the cup 172??

I think any none genuine ones are shite/break.

Did think that just need 1 shock until i get my coilys after my holiday in july

course they can get non genuine, however they are pants, ive got OE Bilsteins and even they are fukin balls
