Recharging the aircon system

  Clio 16V mk1 ph2
Depends where you take it. Most people do a leak test first, and if there's no pressure in the system, most places won't carry on. But if there is, they'll basically go trhough all the checks and refill the refigerant (sp?) And, yeah about £40

How many years is it good for? Just a general idea? Mines just over 3 years now. Seems ok but not sre how good/chilled it should be?

How can you tell if it needs doing?

Basically the air con machine can pressurise the system, and then just keep your eye on the gauges, if the pressure drops enough you've got a leak. Decent air con machine goes 'beep... beep' - leak detected on the screen.

Shouldn't pay more than £50 for a degas regas.

Pressure gauge? :S

Well I've had the car about 3 years (it's about 6 1/2) and I've certainly never had it done to my knowledge!

It still goes pretty cold when you turn it on, not as cold as some cars but my thinking behind it was "Hey, it's not German after all" ;)

Do renault have a recommendation as to when the air con should have a service is it part of an official service like 36k or whenever??

my cars only 2 years old, 12000 miles, but the air con is not as cold as my bros corsa. i think i need to get it re-filled, what happens if you have a leak then?

If you have a leak, the dealer will pump in new gas with a colour dye so that they can trace where the leak is and fix.

Mines going in on Monday for the failed part to be replaced.

You can get a recharge kit from Halfords. Gumpy- you can tell when its not as cold as it was mostly

yeah recharge cans arent expensive, exercise caution though when doing it its dangerous if you dont know what you're doing, a mate overfilled one on his astra and blew up the air con unit and fractured his wrist in the process so watch it!!
