Recommend me a code reader for Renault specific codes?

I don't really want Clip because that means getting it all set up on a laptop and I don't need the extra stuff that Clip gives you. I just want a hand-held code reader that can talk Renault specific fault codes as well as standard OBDII codes - e.g. the Clio had a throttle pedal disagree code the other week which didn't show up on OBDII at all but when hooked to a laptop with proper diagnostics on it showed up just fine.

Anyone know of one that speaks fluent Renault or do I need to buy a Clip again?

Thanks!

How bad are the CLIP copies? How pricey is CLIP to buy? I don't mind using a laptop interface. I had VCDS on the Passat and ForScan for the Fords and both were superb in diagnosing faults, better than the garage's Snap On Solus IMHO. However, they are car specific.

I don't want a CLIP because that means carrying a laptop around with me too, I'm after a handheld code reader that can be part of an in-car toolkit but which can read Renault specific codes.

I found a video online showing the CarSoft reading the Renault-specific "DF" fault codes so unless anyone knows of a cheaper option I'll probably get it :)

I bought an i907 in the end and it does exactly what it says on the tin, pretty pleased with it all in all. Seems well made, comes in a decent carry case, reads the Renualt specific codes that my boggo ODBII reader couldn't. Cost me £77 delivered from a German eBay seller and once I'd switched the unit to English it was good to go.

Of course the only reason I know this is that one of the ABS sensors has gone open-circuit on me.... Bah.... ;)

Should do yep, it says it's for all Renault cars and it does have Clio II in the menu where you pick from the Renault models. This is a link to where I got it from, just be aware that when it arrives the unit will be in German and you'll need to change the language - just a quick google to translate the words into English.

You might prefer to source one from the UK in case there are any issues with it and you need to send it back etc.

Works as a generic OBDII reader as well, just cleared the EML on my Suzuki with it.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but what’s the latest diagnostics tool of choice? Was going to buy an RS tuner and will do at some point, but the copy Clips need a separate laptop and can be unstable. I’m looking for something that can read and display Renault fault codes if possible. Cheap ones seem a bit naff

I've got an iCarSoft i907. Reads the Renault specific codes a lot of the genetic readers can't cope with.
