reducing car weight.

  Italian 3.2 V6
hello,

..does any1 know what weight a single standard mk3 16" alloy is, preferably without the tyre (if with tyre, menchion) if no1 knows does anybody have a rough idea to what it could be? (maby simuler weight to a standard 16" 182 alloy :S ??)

can anybody recommend a decent light set of 16" / 17" alloys??

what other car body parts are the main keys to change to reduce weight of the car dramatically?? ...bonnet maby?? :S

....god u guys dont tlk much...?

lightest decent wheel i can find with stats so far is OZ Ultraleggera and Superleggera (7x17") = 6.9kg a piece ....light compared to the o so famous turnis (7x17") which are 8.7kg a piece... which is 1.8kg difference per wheel and thats a total of 7.2kg lighter for a set of four!

can any1 find a lighter alloy wheel and any1 yet know of the weight of a standard 16" alloy???

Well wheels would be a start, then as you say bonnet. After that, there's plenty og options depending on what you use the car for. Air con, seats, door cards, sound proofing, power steering, smaller battery, etc

Team Dynamics 1.2 might be lighter cannae mind.

Apart from wheels, remove everything from the rear including sound proofing, isofix bar, remove passenger seat, remove dash top, get rid of AC if you have it.

  Golf
rear seats, mine weigh a bit so guessing yours are gonna, if you dont use them take them out

7x17" Team Dynamics 1.2 = 7.9kg ...better that the turnis but still 1kg heavier than the Ultraleggeras, im actually suprised how light they are tbh, plus ther cheaper than turnis and still look guuurd!

thanks all the info is gr8 so far guys keep it cuming.. :D but think id lyk to stay away from the interior... lol boot area and exterior parts yess... i.e. changing bonnet for carbon one etc...
