Reliability with Throttle Bodies

  Track 172 Cup
Just wondering about the reliability issues with throttle bodies, I'm supposed to be paying for a brand new set of bodies in the morning but I'm already having 2nd thoughts lol about how reliable my track car will be running on them. Touch wood had no issues so far after about 10 days. But I've agreed price with the guy selling and just don't want too miss out and kick myself. But don't want too buy them and regret it. Getting enough stick off my missus now she found out how much I'm spending on the car lol not told her I need an ECU and map yet :/ not looking forward too that bombshell.

Do I pull out of the purchase and just spend some more on track days/tyres etc or think f@#k it and buy them run them As at least they are worth something 2nd hand. Bloody dilemma don't wanna be a d!#k and mess the guy around.

  172 Turbo
I had them on my 205 with a decent ECU and they were fine. They need to be cleaned & lubed occasionally, and the filter needs to be maintained but if mapped correctly they are fine.

My only issue was I had to detune the car to get through the MOT so had to find a tester who'd let me reduce the fueling whilst he did the emissions :)

They are a good buy for new bodies, but there are better bargains out there at second hand prices. Once you add on management, you're just £999 under a turbo conversion and you've not paid for mapping

  Hi comp phase 1
Never had a problem running them. I've had mine for 3 years and it's started 1st time every time even in the depths of winter. Just look after the filter and lube the linkages as said above.
A good map will have the engine running as good as a standard one.
