Nothing wrong with the rstuner. Its a decent map and is better than most of the s**t that gets done by some of these cowboys. (not Dan) :)
Rstuner is the best option imo.

dan is in somerset ; nowhere near stoke. leeds is also a treck. the boy asked for somewhere near to stoke. i personally cannot answer your question dude because i don't live anywhere near stoke but some of the brown nose replies you've had is just ridiculous.

If you're after pops and bangs, I'd just buy an RS Tuner. That way you can stun it on/off as you wish. (It gets annoying after a while).

What 172 do you have mate?

Reg doesn't end in TLC does it?

Thanks for the replys guys might just have to risk getting an rstuner and no it's ends in OFB I have seen that TLC plate driving around tho

Wow all a bit emotional in here... Sadly decent mappers who understand these ecu's are few and far between. I personally won't do a pops and bangs map, just as it's too risky for my warranty (excessive EGT's weakening an already week component in these engines) I'm someone who will not let a car go unless I'm 100% happy with it (as Chi is currently experiencing!)

All in all, You have to make a choice sometimes. A decent map is worth travelling for. As one of my customers found out, Filters, there are some bad maps out there. (If you're set on pops and bangs, get an RSTuner)

Today, we had a ph2 172 come in for a remap after discovering some 'interesting' fuelling on the map.

The car has piper cams, ph1 cat, matched inlets and a ktec induction kit.

The car also had a high rev limit considering it was on standard rod bolts and valve train.

I did a datalog with the customer driving, which showed an AFR on full throttle ranging between 14.7 and 12.8. But it was mainly in the high 13 mark, and only 2 spots on the run were at an AFR I'd be happy with.

I started from scratch with it, and was aiming for an AFR of between 12.6 and 12.9. The customer has taken the car away and is very happy with the improved driveability and increased power and torque across the range.

Here (albeit poor) is a picture of the before and after AFR's. Red line being my tune.

FLOL at least I gave an option.. OP didn't ask for a geography lesson he asked for advise and a couple hours drive is worth the sacrifice imo.

probably should point out chi that the OP asked for recommendations for places in stoke. i read the post fully and stated that i'm not from stoke, or anywhere near stoke but also pointed out that somerset and leeds isn't anywhere near stoke either. it would however be nice if someone could point out to the OP somewhere in stoke or within 50 miles radius of stoke (or that sort of distance) somewhere that's got a good reputation with car remapping :)

Oscar88 I wouldn't say the others a brown nosing at all chap, just that Dan generally does a damn good job.
My previous map was carried out by a "specialist" and well the results speak more words about it than I can.
Since it's been sorted the car feels like a totally different animal.

I traveled 160 miles in all and I'm not in the best of shapes to do so at the moment. It's worth it for the knowledge and peace of mind.

I know where Stoke is...and I also know where Leeds is...so no geography lesson needed. As for Brown nose reply....you can kiss my arse. I've seen information about mappers who are 1 notch shy of complete s**t and also some who are spot on. If a job is worth doing, its worth travelling for. I went to Cardiff twice for an exhaust as the work was bloody good. I would never recommend someone I wouldn't use myself. I don't bum the likes of Ktec...never used them, but not heard good things either. RsTuning (not to be confused with RSTuner) are good at what they do and Paul knows how to map a car which is why I put his name/business forwards...no brown nosing at all...if you know me, you take me as you find me!

CS just seems to be on the rag lately and I don't get why people are out to get others... I personally agree with Don and his suggestion of RS Tuning
