Remote Central Locking MK1

Car  RS182
Hello,
just joined the site, been very helpful some of the info i've read, theres just one thing i cant seam to find an answer to.
Im sorry if this has already been answered before but i tried searching and could only find stuff about mk2 clios.

Basically i own a 1991 1.4 clio RT and i've had it for six months. i was aware that it had remote central locking i just never bothered sorting it out. But i decided this morning that it would be extremely handy to have. I put new batteries in the key and the red LED lights up fine.

I know that i've read some where that you have to reprogram the key once you change the battery but i dont think this is the case any more.
The sunroof leaks like most of the mk1 clios and i fear that it has basically fryed the sensor.

So i guess my question is am i able to just buy a new sensor from ebay or something?

Just thought id add that my car doesnt have an alarm or immmobiliser its just central locking.

Thanks,
Karl

Had the same problem with mine mate, i tryed all sorts of auto electricians n they all pointed me in 1 direction, Renualt. I got a new sensor from them for £42. Works a treat now.

Buy a second hand sensor and key fob from the same car mate, Just swap the key blades and you should be onto a winner.

mine had the same problem.
got the sensor from scrappy and changed it over. works perfectly.

u dont need a new key fob cuz the ecu has the programing (i think)

He sent me the sensor with the matching plip key from the car and when i plugged the sensor in my original key didn't work, but tried the one he sent me and it works fine.
