Removing an alarm - Gemel/Serpi Star

I've been having a few issues with the car starting. Within the last 4months its had new plugs, ht leads, coilpack, battery (not all at once), the car turns over but refuses to start. If I lock car (key), put alarm on (separate fob), disarm alarm, itll start. So my thinking is its possibly an immobiliser thing.

The alarm has a control box secured in passenger footwell. Can I unplug the control box to temporarily disable the whole alarm? Wiring goes everywhere, so want to avoid having to trace it to where its joined in to wires/loom. This would help narrow down a possibility

Thanks

My 172 has the same/similar alarm to you. Your in a better situation than me as your original key works remotely, mine doesn't. I also want rid of the alarm as it sometimes doesn't lock the doors but arms the alarm, the immobiliser arms after about 3 seconds after stopping the car.
I want to remove the alarm and hopefully use the original key and immobiliser so anything you find out would be a bonus!!
