Removing Rear Axle on Clio II

Anyone willing to give me a guide on how to remove the axle on a Clio II by any chance??

Im speaking to Ben R about it atm so hoping he will give me a good enough description!

  172 cup,s2 rs turbo

dead easy

1,jack up the vehicle on the sill mounting points and remove both wheels

2,handbrake cables,2 different ways-1,remove the rear drums, unhook the cables from the gold levers on the brake shoes and pull the cables out of the backplates.unclip the cables from any axle clips/brackets. or 2,remove the exhaust heatsheild above the centre section, undo the 13m nut on the threaded bar to slacken off the cables, unhook them from the gold bracket and pull them out of the mounting holes in the floor.the cables would then come off with the rear axle. NOTE-if it has rear discs just slacken off the cables as above and unhook them from the calipers.

3,clamp off the brake pipe flexis just before the rear axle so you dont lose all your fluid. undo the 11m brake pipe unions on the n/s of the axle. pull out the flexis from the axle bracket and the rest of the brake pipe will come off with the axle.Disconnect the abs sensors loom connector on each side(behind the wheel arch liner).the sensors can then come off with the axle(this is if its got abs of course)

4,support the axle with a jack and undo the lower shocker bolts(18m)

5,lower down the axle slightly to release the rear springs.

6,remove the axle mounting nut and bolt at the axle pivot points/brackets at either side(releasing it from the brackets on the vehicle floor).

7,lower down the jack fully and remove the axle.

Remember when you rebuild it that you will need to bleed the brakes and re-adjust your handbrake.

Wow!

cheers mate!!!!! Much appreciated!!!

Now the beginner (i.e. me) goes outside to give it a try :D dont have to worry about breaking the old rear axle tho as its already buggered hehe ;)

Most probably not.... I heard it was more hassle than it was worth!

i followed this guide but struggled with the drivers side bolt coming out the rubber bush as the bolt was long it was hitting the fuel tank when I tried to get the whole bolt out, resorting me to remove the whole bracket which now im struggling to get replacement bolts for.
