Removing rear ride height adjusters on blistein b14's

Is it safe to remove the black adjusting mounts and allow the spring to sit on the threaded mount instead ? thanks
 
Had them removed on my kw's but it kept making clunking noises so put them back in. Only gave you an extra 6mm or something.
