Removing the Acoustic Valve / Pipe?

  Renaultsport Clio 182
has anyone done this on their 172/182? been told that it doesn't affect performance in any way but gives more sound to the air intake?

any ideas?

i didnt notice any difference but i left it off, quite a few threads and a guide on here somewhere use the search function. in theory increases intake sound at certain point in the rev range and it was installed to meet noise regs in a certain country (sweden or something) it wont do any harm to remove it. saves a few lbs weight lol.

is it positively safe to remove / will not do any damage?

will it just increase the noise? and is just taking off the electrical connection I've read of enough?

I did a search and it says to screw/tape the tube coming from it

is that safe to do / how big is it?

sorry to bombard with qs lol

Dont bother. it just makes the induction sounds louder.

A total waste of time to be honest. if you want to se what its like without removing everything just open up your air box, remove the filter and using a screwdriver;leaver up the plastic catch that holds the acoustic valve tube into the air box while pushing the one on top down and wiggle it out.

But i wouldn't even bother doing that. it just made mine sounds really annoying a low revs (too deep) sounded nice when you thrashed it mind!

i might give it a try if i'm bored in the week. hopefully be getting new exhaust soon so the sound might be lost

Good cheap mod, that makes the car sound a wee bit gruntier. I did it to both 172 and 182. Why not?

hmm.. no longer have my std air box in

running a simota carbon shielded filter now with caf... is it still coming into play in this situation then?

mine is actually quite loud to be fair.. louder than I expected.

v.nice noise tho ;)

just gotta get a ktec cat-back now to cure my slightly manky blowing std exhaust

if your using an induction kit then the acoustic valve pipe is no longer connected to the air box. the vale is in the cold air feed pipe under the airbox.
