Removing Wax layers

I've een doing the washing and waxing thing on the car for a few months, waxing it every 4 weeks. I'm going to give it a clay and polish but was wondering is there something I should use to remove any previous layers of wax or will the clay bar do this?

Why do people assume clay (strength dependent) and fairy liquid strip wax?

because thats the advice given on Detailing world.

true to an extent. Fairy will remove wax over a period of time with constant use during washing. Saying that, most other car shampoos will also remove it (albeit slower). A reasonable strength clay bar will do it no problem. Standard clay might take a bit more effort. Other than that, maybe APC could remove it.

Clay and cleansers will remove wax. Granted. But not in hard to reach areas.

Therefore as someone has suggested, a soak down/snow foam of decent strength APC will clear previous layers. G101 is an excellent example of such.

Rg55 has withstood a good claying and apc a few times.

Polishing and pre-wax cleansing is the only thing I would personally suggest.

G101 at 4:1 removed delivery wax on dad's R8 to my surprise, still swear by it.
