Renaultsport options

I read in Autocar recently that the new 182 Clio cup will have options to have Recaro seats, engine re-map, roll cage etc.... as Renaultsport options.

Has anyone heard anything on this???

Even if they do them I reckon take up will be relatively low and theyll be deleted in the end anyway. LOL

182cup is so tempting with a few options. The bugger is knowing that within 6 months or so, the next gen 192/202 or whatever the hell there going to call it will be released. You cant win with Renault.

Plus, this cup will have ABS as its EU law

There wont be another renault sport until about 2006 so i wouldnt worry. some minor MY spec changes maybe but thats about it.

Still think ill wait. Still within a year of ownership that they release a newer version, and that would be a painful hit in the pocket

  172 Cup

Ill beleive it when I see it. Im still waiting for the original Cup options which Renault tried to brush under the carpet and now claim they never said such options would exist. My Cup brochure begs to differ.

The rest of europe got the I.D. program though didnt it? Think it was just us roast beefs that didnt

  172 Cup

Perhaps JT can confirm whats happening this time and offer some kind of apology (on behalf of Renault) for leading on the original Cup owners.

On Renaultsport.co.uk forum there is an ask the expert (Renault people) section the question was asked about performance extras and the answer was no there arent going to be any at all, autocar got it wrong!!!

Imagine the arse ache trying to explain to the insurance company that your factory 182 has all these extra perfomance parts as standard, not stuck on afterwards

Bit confused..... so on a 182 CUP that i could go and buy this afternoon, you could get engine upgrades????

Not from Renault no.

Ta.... so Autocar were lying.

Hope they dont bring another upgrade out too soon, not even ordered the cup yet?

Sadly the comments made in Autocar werent correct. The only plans we have are for the option of some different seats. However, this is still being worked on and therefore isnt confirmed. The addition of any performance enhancing modifications will invalidate the warranty on anything linked to or affected by the change in specification.

Quote from Renaultsport.co.uk forum, the seats may be still happen but dont hold your breath.

  172 Cup

Been here before, its simply Renault hype.

They promise loads of addons (in the case of the 172 Cup), shift a few extra cars then say sorry its not happening.

The mk2 172 lasted about 2 years before it was upgraded to the 182. The 182 is 8 months old roughly and the new gen RS isnt out until 03/06, so if it is updated youve probably got until summer next year before the next revision (Nothing massive maybe a face lift or a few tweeks) if they do one

  Black 182 + Recaros

All these rumours dont help Renault to sell more cars.

If people are unsure theyll probably wait to see if the options do materialise. If they dont, they may decide to wait for the new Clio. And when they see the new Clio, theyll go and buy something else altogether ;).

the seats will be a factory option for the 182 and 182 cup so im lead to believe.

I think they are more likely to be an option on the cup as
it doesnt have side airbags on the seat as standard but to put them in a 182 full fat may invalidate the warranty unless Renault make it a special edition as you will be lowering the safety of the car on which it is based, dont think you can do that without problems.
