Reno find 3 Inch hole in backbox!

Tpyical Renault, when it went in for the (now infamous) 4K rattle, they fixed that and caused this other problem!

Anyway, I thought it was blowing so i took it Renault today, turns out theres a hole just on the pipe that meets with the backbox, apparently its been there for ages (like since last year!).

Anyway, they replaced the backbox as it was their fault, and (wait for it)......... I SWEAR its faster, no blag!!

Is this possible? Or have i been reading sortedorions.com too much?

Ive found that cars feel faster when the exhaust is pukka - must be something to do with the turbulence inside the tube from the leak increasing backpressure perhaps?

Or I could be talking b*llocks.

you would definitely lose power if your exhaust is blowing, i can notice even the smallest leak on my RT and ive not even got half the power that you have

Funny story really cos thats what happend to mine! I took it in for them to have a look at the rattle/vibration. They tell me I need a new exhaust, about a week later I have a feck off big hole in my exhaust!!!!! And about 3 months after having that replaced I now have a big feck off crack all the way down my cat.

Whats that all about.....dumb asses!!

Doubt it....an exhaust has a hole at the end anyway, so another one aint gonna matter is it?

You will notice a drop in power with a broken exhaust - or indeed an increase in power with a fixed/new one!

big hole = loss of back pressure, you need the correct back pressure for the engine to work properly, now youve got the right pressure again = va va vooom

last time it was RRd they commented the power graph was "All wrong", the curve just wasnt a curve, went like this:

up,down, up, up, down,up,down... all the way to 7250.

Could this be why, or am I chatting sh!t?
