repairing accident damage...

car is on monday to be looked at, maybe a stupid question but say needs a new door will they use renault parts? its going into nationwide crash repair

i'd assume that renault would be the only ones that make the doors?

as for the other "workings"...prob use cheapo parts to try and save money..

If your car is being repaired under insurance then you can specify your own bodyshop, nationwide crash repairs sounds like a cheap mainstream place that will rush it and do a rubbish job.. People think you have to use who they say, you dont.
If you know a bodyshop that will do a perfect job take it there for a quote - you dont want to end up with a shoddy colour match/cheap parts.

Spurious parts can be obtained for pretty much any vehicle.
correcto and they dont align properly either

thats a bit of a bold claim, most are just as good at the genuine parts these days, they have come on a lot in recent years with regards to fit and quality.

Non gen parts are been used more and more widely by insurers approved repair shops, the non genuine company usually do 2 of each part, a standard non genuine and a insurance approved non genuine part, usually of higher quality. Id just let them do the car, and if your not happy reject it.

Nationwide are a big operation, do thousands of jobs almost exclusively insurance work. Though, that doesnt necessarily mean they are good or bad!

Sometimes they'll use the parts that were on the original door too, had the passenger side door replaced on mine and all they did was remove the old interior panels and placed them on the new door.. Bit of a con really but, at least the parts were genuine. (nothing wrong with them just the metal body of the door that was damaged).

Like it's already been said.. If your not happy with the work, tell them what's wrong and they should sort it.

i have to say i dont think ive ever had a non genuine part thats been 100% perfect fit. theres ALWAYS something that dont allign properly. to the average joe they are perfect, wouldnt tell the difference, to a pro some are just bloody awful

Well usually nationwide places are mass market/low quality/non specialist say it however - so as you said the normal public wouldnt care if the paint didnt match/panels didnt line up so they rush it out and dont take care so they repair as many cars as they can to make more money..

If i need an insurance repair i would go to my trusted local paint shop that are know for quality.

Some of the repairs i've seen in the past from garages are so bad(the worst being main dealers) it's just funny so i'm very cautious where i get any paint done..

some insurance companys dont like you taking it to a different bodyshop, i have seen them refusing courtesy cars etc

i had a car repaired by them, it was a crap job, the original inside bits they put back on, weren't even put back on properly. and various other problems
