Replacement Bulbs for 172

One of my halogen bulbs has gone one my 172 and I need a replacement, where's the cheapest place to get one from... in store and does anyone know the model number?

Hmmm £70 for a bulb terrible... think I might try renault

The bulbs in the link above are D2S, otherwise known as the Xenon bulbs, not the halogen like you have stated in your first thread.
Something like the Philips Bluevisions (at the bottom of this page: http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk/autoexpress.asp ) are an ideal replacement for halogens if thats where the problem is, and a lot cheaper.:approve:

Just verify that it is a HALOGEN bulb that has gone and not a XENON.

Sorry whatever the standard bulbs are in a 172 mk2 so xenon I think...?

Does the headlight unit on your car look like this:

^^This is a Xenon headlight unit, with the Xenon being my dipped beam and is the light on right the picture ( the outer most light) the ones on the left are the side lights and main beam.

Is it the Xenon, shown in the above picture on the right that has a sort of greyish colour circle in front of it and directly below the indicator bulb that has gone on your car??

yep, halogen = mucho cheaper than xenon...
xenon's are usually standard on a 172...

D2S is the bulb you want.
H7 is a normal bulb although oen is sues on the 172/182's
All 172's should (there has been at least one that wasn't sold with) be fitted ith xeons there expensive to replace and covered under normal warently as they should never realy fail.
If you look on TELFORDS_LURK post you'll see the lights in thsi sequence

Number 1 is the indicator light (a PY21 W bayonett type bulb)
Number 2 is the h7 bulb there only relitively cheap I got some uprated ones as I kept blowing Renault ones ever few month they were £40 or so from Halfords
Number 3 is the D2S bulb. Ie the xeons.
Depending on whic bult has gone you need to chnage them.
Personally if your H7 has gone get some better ones (well mine havn't faied in 2 yrs or so the normal ones and Renault replacment failed in 6 month each) there worth the extra.

OK Cheers guys, sorry for the delayed reply but been busy at work. Yeah it's definately the xenon that's gone I just got the name mixed up with halogen...

I'm off to order one from bulbs direct then, been driving round for a few weeks without one now and jsut waiting to be pulled over by the police..

could be tricky as there isnt much room to get your hands in on the 172
