Replacing interior bulbs with better bulbs?

Will this be ok providing they are the same bulb? My interior lights are rubbish, can't see anything. The boot light is also terrible. Would it be ok to upgrade them? If so, with which bulbs? Thanks!

most people upgrade to LED's.

It all depends on what interior light you have, if you have one like this:

Then it's a straight bulb replacement with w5w LEDs.

But if you have the other type of interior light, it involves some soldering 2 LED bulbs in opposite ways, as the interior light switches polarity depending on how the light is selected, meaning the LED would only work when the light is selected to go on when the door opens, but wont go on when you try switching it on, and vice versa.

The boot light is just an festoon bulb IIRC. Can just get a fat SMD one

You're best off getting a smaller version of the one Dan posted. I've got one of those in the boot light but it's too wide so ive had to angle it down and it doesn't light as good, a 9 one would probably fit. If you've got a normal light on the headlining use the 16, that's exactly what I have and it looks really good, crisp clean light. Look on my progress thread you'll see a pic

EDIT: Sorted, so got 2 5w5 bulbs for my front interior. Now, boot light.. I've ordered the link you provided. What about the number plate light? Will this be ok?

The above are what I use, exact fit for the hole in the reflector, you won't fit anything else bigger or brighter in there.

Numberplate bulb is R5W.

I got some from china for 99p, took 3 weeks to come but have lasted for months, I found that the bulbs on ebay died after a month, these are the ones I got but weren't from that seller, don't really look legit but they work
