i inquired today, about a full respray in mg grey (the new ones) and a few other things, fully colour coded, badges, rear wiper arm removed and smoothed, little bits of rust sorting out. he quoted roughly 2k. did this seen about right? ive had a £300 job done before and thats why it now needs redoing, dont want another bodge job.

2k doesnt seem to much for a full respray.. but its always best to ring round.

going for the cheapest respray normally ends in a job you arent happy with, a decent bodyshop will qoute 1200 to 2500 roughly but they vary alot normally cutting costs on a respray means you get a sh*t result with overspray rattling trims or poorly lined up trims bumpers etc and stuff like orange peel(when too much paint is applied it looks like the texture of orange peel in the light) or dust/dirt in the paint or rubbing down marks. its best to go by recomendations when choosing a bodyshop and see some of their work first, a bad job is costly and it will p*ss you off everytime you look at the car til its done again properly

the £300 jobbie was done in wolverhampton, but the guy who did it didnt use the low bake oven (as he hasnt got one) and it looks like the paint froze before it set properly. Also parts of the car are different colours. cliospares in wolvo seemed a good bet they had a clio on a trailer looked mint, looked on the website and it looks like the same car has been damaged/repaired and sold! He has also bought a damaged v6 which he is repairing. Oh and if anyone is interested i think he has a full 172 interior for sale £650 and he said he has a full set of 16v grey leather seats coming in soon.

2 grand sounds like a fair price for the work you want.

we charge about 1500£ for a full colour change, thats with bumpers, doors, bonnet off the car, windows out, door shuts sprayed and top of the engine bay. the other bits u watnd doin would prob equate to about £300-500 so yeah 2 grand is about right. you get what you pay for at the end of the day like a few others mentioned above

how much do u reckon it would cost for colour coded sidestrips, mirrors, door handles, and debadged back and front and bumpstrip at the back removed?

my little brain has been ticking over, got my choice down to 4 colours,

flame red, cup blue (would this be hard to get hold of?) iceburg silver or the mg grey. Any comments?

derv, having a blue car, Im probably biased.. but, if you go for a colour change has to be Cup Blue! If you want a Silver again, Iceburg is nice..

Your current silver is nice too, tho!

cheers daz, the only thing is if im spending close to 2k i dont really want exactly the same colour i got now, i am definately considering the cup blue or the flame red, and my g/f agrees.

A normal respray should only cost about a grand for a small car, so £1500 is about right for the extra bits your want.
