Revs sticking to 2000 rpm on my 172 .

Hi basically the 172 is sticking on 2000 revs every now and then any idea what this could be ? its a x reg mk 2 ph 1 ! its under warranty so no worries just would like an idea of what it could be ?? thanks .

just lift the pedal and it drops back down

Spring on the back of the throttle body worn or worn fraying throttle cable are the most common causes

When it revs up, check to see the cable holder (black disk thing on the TB) is sitting back on the TB gromit screw

i only picked it up today bit tbh i havnt noticied if its cold or hot but just random at any time , hot or cold , also to karl yes i have just revved it again and it goes back to normal .

yeah mine sticks on great for driving tho town sticks to 30mph :rasp:

Try oiling the cable and cleaning the throttle body. Could have to get a new cable though.
