Ridiculous Errectic Idle

Hi,

Firstly I've got a 51 plate, 1.2 Clio Dynamique and this problem has been happening for a while now.

When idling, the idle on my car can only be described as erratic. It happens when it starts up and then seems to settle but as soon as the throttle is touched, it'll start idling stupidly again. This is a real problem when approaching junctions as when I take it out of gear to come to a stop, most of the time it'll stall its self resulting in me having to start the car countless times when doing a journey.

I've replaced the plugs and checked them, they're all ok. I've borrowed my mates coilpack from the exact same car as mine and it's made no difference what so ever. I've had it in a local garage for a week and half over the space of 3 weeks, they can't find out whats wrong with it but are saying its some sort of wiring problem. But they can't seem to figure out where or what the wiring problem is.

I've researched and researched and found some common faults such as the throttle body, lambda sensor, Idle Control Valve, MAP sensor. Could it be any of these simple things?

Just asking on here as a last resort as to what the problem is before taking it to one of the more reliable garages on here. I can take a video tonight, after work if that would be any help.

Thanks in advance

Homework for you:

Remove the inlet, clean out the resonator box of all the pooled oil and give the throttle body a properly good seeing to with something like Carb or Brake cleaner.

Cheers Mick. Is it as difficult as it sounds?

If that doesn't cure it, it'll probably be coming down to see you. The garage I'm using are normally very good but they don't seem to have a clue what they're doing. And they got oil all over my RS Mats, the b******s!

Its not difficult so just take your time and all will be reet. Don't force anything either and mind your tools as i've seen people catch the battery live on the rear of the starter when doing this job... it makes you jump a bit ;)

Got a full day tomorrow, a Haynes manuel and a can of Carb cleaner, so I'll see how I get on :)
