Right, its down to 3 then, YOU DECIDE!

To replace my standard headunit, its one of these.

Blaupunkt DAB54 (this is as DAB is already on it, so save money, but does it look boring?)

The Kenwood KDC-PSW9524 (need to buy DAB for it, display look cheap???and annoying flip down??)

The JVC KDSHX701 (Not sure on JVC ICE, nice screen though. Lack of buttons?? Needs DAB adapter for it too)

Please help me decide, i really am struggling! Thats why so many questions recently!

Is that kenwood a higher model to the 9027? If so get that, my friend has one and its insanely good! Most secure as well mate.

JVC looks neat tho. Dont know how good they are.

it is yeah, digital surround sound or something on it. the 9027 is analogue, doubt it would make much difference.

Does your mate find it ok with the face being lower than the headunit itself, as i thought where it is lower, it would be in my way for the climate control to be honest.

So far, Kenwood leading then!

Right, its down to the JVC one then and the kenwood BUT not the kenwood i suggested before! Its this one!

I will buy whatever car radio on tuesday, so its up to you over the next 2 days to convince me what one to buy. Its these two to choose from:-

The JVC KDSHX701 (Not sure on JVC ICE, nice screen though. Lack of buttons?? Needs DAB adapter for it too) Dab adapter costs £150-£200

The Kenwood KDC-PSW9527 (need to buy DAB for it, display look cheap???and annoying flip down??) DAB adapter costs £400, but got one for £175 in case i get the kenwood!

I would get the Blaupunkt. I think they look really smart and not too OTT like some aftermarket headunits. Also iirc the DAB54 has recording features as well, so you can record radio sessions on a mmc card! I was goin to get this HU but couldnt fork out the extra cash on top of my Alpine 9812

  A well built VW

Pioneer is a much better make mines is over five years old and the only prob i have had was a broken button that was peanuts to replace DEH p77mp is a class stereo my all time fave if you look in the pics section someone has fitted one recently just mho though

Go with your heart mate you must prefer one to the other

Im really not being rude, but people need to do some research.

Looking at spec sheets is all well and good but at the end of the day people are after good sound.

If i went by on paper spec i would have bought a sony.

Go to an ice dealer and listen to some headunits, spend some time choosing the right one based on what you need.

i agree with tom however if i was to buy something off of that site it wouldnt be any of the choices you have made mate :)

it would be between http://www.lowcostcaraudio.co.uk/shop.php?category=%2Fmp3%2F&page=2&product=109this and http://www.lowcostcaraudio.co.uk/shop.php?category=%2Fmp3%2F&page=2&product=455this, not much help i know.. i also think you should buy what YOU like not what someone else likes..getting opinions is ok but always buy what you like most or you will probably end up regretting it.

Alpine, Pioneer and Nakamichi are THE ONLY head units worth buying

TRUST ME!!!!!!!!

anything else on the current market is pure shyte (barring maybe the top line JVC - but top line only)

SQ really has gone out the window in the last 4 years in favour of silly flashing lights and colour displays, the best HUs are the most basic in appearance (look at the Nak CD45Z for an idea what i mean)

Blaupunkt. I just bought the DAB54 and its quality. Looks really good in the dark as you can change the dispaly colour to match that of your dashboard (EXACTLY) or you can change the colour completely. Also you can change the colour of the buttons.

You can copy music straight from your computer onto a SD card or MSS card. Which means you will not end up wasting cds!! It plays cds and mp3s from the cds. Has FM/MW/LW and DAB. It looks good but dont always buy good looking headunits like the JVC or the Kenwood. They may be good, but do they offer DAB? Recording facility? Pause Facility? SD / MSS Card Slot? I doubt it. For the money the Blaupunkt sounds amazing. 4 x 50w.

Also its cheaper here:

With Free Postage Anywhere in the UK.

Bit of advice. But the Roof Aerial FM/DAB Splitter as its 110% better than the window mounted aerial.

im on my second pioneer unit after previously buying sonys and tbh id personally only buy pioneer or alpine atm. as bambam says factors that should matter have gone out the window in favour of flashing lighs etc.kenwood in particular i find very over-rated they always seem to have a tinny electronic sound to them rather thana nice rounded warm tone

i used to have a kenwood but that was about 10 years ago, was a nice sounding sterio imo.. but after about 18months use the popoff faceplate started to move in the unit and if you went over a pot hole it would turn its self off  i thought it was "just me" but a mate who also brought 1 at the same time as me also had this happen to him, he got another one but the same thing happened again, this put me off kenwood units..

mcyates - im not saying its a poor head unit that youve got or anything, its just not for me im not to botherd about DAB tbh and as for waisting CDs i can buy 100 blank quality CDs for about £20 so afew pence for a CD i dont mind the odd coster - but having said that iv ruined a CD for years :)

Yeah, at the end of the day everyone has their own tastes. wouldnt it be sh*t if ALL the radios were the same? Anyway i would choose the Blaupunkt one but thats just my opinion. Its entirely up to you mate.

I will get teh kenwood one i think.

Just waiting for car audio direct to confirm what cables i will need and then i will order it with their no postage offer! OUTSTANDING!

Thanks everyone for your opinions, and i do like to listen to everyones opinions as its you lot who have had the experience of the headunits, i didnt want any tom, dick or harry to choose what headunit to have, i just wanted pros and cons to each, thats all!

Thanks Again!

Only 8 days till i get my clio! Excellent!

Stuart
