Road Angel Navigator vs Snooper Indago

So I bought a Road Angel Navigator a couple of months ago, and I've got to say I was a little dissapointed somehow. Nothing in particular, just seemed a bit clumsy. In the last week I've done 700+ miles with the thing up and down the country. It's given me numerous false camera alerts (30mph camera on a clear motorway) and crashed 3 times (on two consecutive journeys) meaning I had to stop the car and reset the unit. It forgets half the settings (but remembers the other half) when it is turned off - including the "avoid toll roads" meaning that I nearly ended up on the M6 toll by accident

So now I'm pretty pissed off with it to be honest and I'm thinking about sending it back and getting a refund.

But, what to replace it with?

Reading http://cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=145098, the Snooper Indago looks like it is the equivalent unit from snooper - but slightly more expensive (? I've not actually compare prices)

Has anyone used both? Do they have the same basic functionality? (speed camera detection + satnav) Which one do you prefer / think is best?

Oh, and has anyone else with an RA Navigator had the same experiences as me?

/discuss ;)

i have used and seen the road angel nav, and i found it to be crap, yet i still wanted one! I when to halfords to buy one about 3 times aways out of stock, and told by the 3 different guys from 3 different shop that it was crap.

So i did a bit of research and i found the indago to do the same + more! had a look around the internet and found people saying very good stuff about the indago and bad things about the road angel!

The only bad think i have found with the indago it can take a little time to work out some of the information (e.g the route guide! without the map) but working out routes and re routing you is very quick!

I would sent the road angel one back and get the indago (if you want to pay for a name e.g snooper. Tom Tom i have been told can do the same thing but i would stick with indago! (i hate tom tom)

my experience of 4 Snooper products has always been poor, im not sure on the Indago but i would never give them anymore of my money

BlackSpot on the other hand, have always produced very good products in my experience, id ring them and tell them about your problems, they may replace it for you as it sounds like your unit might be faulty

^ I've emailed blackspot with a long list of problems - no reply after one month. Just resent it with an additional list of faults today, so I'll give it another few weeks them I'll think again about what to do.

To be honest, I fail to see how it could be a faulty unit as all the problems seem to be software bugs to me - but you never know.

The other slight complication is that I didn't buy it direct from blackspot, but from and online store - and their t&c say 25% restocking charge for used stock.

We'll see. Interesting that we've had two totally opposite replies so far!

^ yeah, I probably will do if they don't reply this time. It will take about an hour to go through the list of problems I have with it!

Don't forget TomTom's. I've just bought a 510.
I'm impressed, never crashed, easy to understand (I haven't read the manual yet). Easily updated with camera positions. I have only experienced a couple of cameras around london not being on the database. That doesn't really matter, seeing as top speed is 20mph anyway.

^ whats the camera alerting like on the tomtom ? Does it give you advance warning, your current speed and the speed the camera is set at. I'd always heard that the camera stuff was more of an add-on and so not as good on the tomtom-type gps devices.

Yeah, works well.

It has the icon on the road, this displays the camera speed. It also shows your speed plus the speed limit on the road.

It also counts down from 300yrds as standard. I've read somewhere on the internet that this is adjustable, but gives me plenty of notice now. So I'm not going to bother lookin into that.

I'm guessing but your probably right about it being more of an add-on. But to be fair I think the same can be said for the others (RANav etc). At the end of the day it uses GPS positioning for the location of cameras, same as the other systems out now. I've also found that you can very easily add other POI's, just be drag and drop on the computer. I haven't as yet, but another database of speed cameras could easily be added, givin double protection/detection (not even condoms can do that!!). :quiet:

i dont like the tom tom, i find it too bulky! i would not wanna walk around somewhere with it in my pocket!

And this snoper product is nothing like other snooper products i have seen! this really is the best that snooper have made, much better the the road angel nav IMO, Its super easy to use and it works very very well, and as i said in my other post, the camera database is better then the road angel as i ran the Road angel 2 and the indago side by side!
