road tax run out

  transit connect

my tax ran out today and because of easter dont get paid til next week?how long do dvla allow u to change yur tax disc over?thought it used to be 14 days or something?

Think it is 14 days, but I wouldnt like to try it out.

Renewed mine on the 17th I think.

Just a tip, get 12months, as the tax disc is Blue next year.. and looks mint in a Williams..

i was about about 4 or 5 days late and havnt heard anything, you dont get any extra days or anything as they tax it til the same day next year as the disc youve already got

probably safest to see if you can borrow some money?

daz cant even afford 6 let alone 12 wouldnt be so bad but mot runs out monday, got to pay 200 for my loan and 200 for car insurance all by the 10th oh no.....

Yea..

I dont think youd get done instantly if you were parked on the drive, but on the road... Id expect to be lifted, heh.

nope, you get 15 days to just under 3weeksish...

i rang em cos my mum had to wait for a insurance cert to come out...

I can confirm (police included!) that you get 0 time whatsoever! As i was transfering my reg plate and mine ran out, police and dvla sed u cant drive it or have it on a public road else u will be NABBED!

Well my sister forgot................my dad went nuts cause he thought it was an automatic fine.................so he called the DVLA to find out and they say that there isnt any time but it is NOT an automatic fine and they recon that 2 or 3 weeks would not be a problem...............just give them a call eh theyll tell you the same and then you can confirm for everyone else yeah.

Cheers Stu

Then an instant fine. Thats just the time to re-tax it. if you dont drive it.

If you are caught driving it, you will be in big trouble, driving without insurance, etc.

dont worry about it.
when i went on holday it was over the end of the month so gettin it before was too early and gettin when i came back was like 9 days late! i never got fined.

my mate left his untaxed for almost a month before he got it as he just never had time cus of our workin hours and never got anything. youll be fine

I need a new disc but cant get to a Post Office until Saturday - Im not worried though as Im parked off road. Unfortunately Im going to be renewing the tax in Bristol, but only have the documentation in Welsh! Hope they can understand it with my aid!

The best tax disc was a blue one with gold lettering that I had in my old Williams - it looked great for 6 months!

The ad campaign they did lead me to believe it was an instant fine - think they were quite happy to let people think it; went through hell trying to get mine in time thinking if I didnt thered be an 80 quid fine on the doormat the next day.
