Roll cage - quickie!

Iv got one, and plan to fit it today, but im a bit worried about insurance. I definately cant afford to pay any extra on it, so was planning on not saying anything. They know about everything else thats noticable on the car. Apart from no interior and bucket seats.

Another option, was to send a letter to them saying im going to fit one, by a certain date, and if they have any problems with this to get in touch with me.

Why dont you ring them up and say "im thinking of putting a cage in my car.. is this likly to increase my insurance? if so.. by how much" if it does and its not by alot.. pay it, if it does and its tons, just say "oh ok, i wont bother then" and put it in anyway.. hehe

i thought about that, but they always record stuff like that, so if they wanted loads of money extra, and i said ill not bother, then i do fit it, theyll have it on record, so i wouldnt be able to play the dumb game if anything happened.

Like i said in the other thread ring up HIC they dont charge extra for roll cages cos i have one and didnt make a difference to my insurance

they are the only ppl i think that do this

its really cheap there too worth ringing them

mine was an extra £80 as i told them it was a show cage rather than a roll cage or a road cage

ah. well iv still got another 9 months of this policy left, and HIC were well expensive when i rang them b4 may ring them and ask in general, rather than giving them my policy details!

Craig, your best bet is to ring them and just get a quote, at least u know where you stand. Do what i did, Ring them without giving any policy details or names etc and just say... Im wondering if you would insure me with a rollcage, and roughly whats the excess.

Worked for me and they said No! lol
