Roof racks

  Clio Billabong 1.2
I just got an 03 Billabong 1.2 as some of you probably know.
I surf quite a lot and need to put my board on top, but I don't know where to get the best roof racks or where to fit them onto the car.
Also, are there any kind of "sporty" looking racks?

I got mine from Thule for 100.

Looks good.
Did you fit it yourself?
And are they easy to take off when you need to?

Yes you initaly set the width and it is a case of unlocking it and unwinding it. They provide you with everything you need. I think it is cheaper if you buy it with out the locks.

Haha will do.
What model of rack are yours?
And how are they fitted to the car?
A lot of cars have 4 gaps and 4 gap protectors on the roof which comes out when needed.. i don't.

Mine is a 182 and the front bar goes behind the rubber seal inside the door and the rear hooks behind the rear winow seal.

Yeah i'd say the same, make sure its clean and don't leave them on for days as grime gets underneath and takes the shine off the paint (happened with my megane). I've banged my head too. Other than that the Thules one are superb

Good info there regarding the fitting. I have done search but could not find anything related to the fitting onto mK2 S reg 1998 3 door model. Does it involve removing the trim pieces on the roof? Apart from what you said about the window rubbers, there doesn't appear to be any way of clipping them on. Can somebody point me in the right direction with a diagram or something. I need them for ladders for my window cleaning business.

Cheers
