dont 100% trust what they say as they are run by a bunch of knob jockies, i work for them and nothing gets done properly its just a big doss! your best bet is to keep on at them its the only way to get a response :)

If it was special mate and its been lost they should cover the cost of the item. Iirc special is £500 covered. So your £400 worth of goods should be covered imo.

just make sure you photocopy any receipts and slips from the p.o counter before you send them off..
also post every thing back to them recorded delivery it only cost a few pence more but one less thing for them to try and wriggle out of...

Did you send the parcel or was it sent to you.

It’s the sender’s responsibility to file the claim and the recipient will be asked to confirm non-receipt. Royal mail will insist the original postal receipt counterfoil is sent to them then they will loose it so photocopy both sides before you (or the sender) send it.
My experience has been they will loose the form, and deny knowing anything about your parcel, blame the lost mail office in Scotland and you will end up with zip. so make sure you have copies of everything and keep on at them.

The standard level of compensation on a SD parcel is £33 unless you paid more to increase it.
You might have more luck claiming it off your household insurance if you were the sender. Good luck, you will need it.

The Royal Fail is crap.

just noticed you are the sender and youve had some of this advice already.

Yea i sent the parcel.....kept checking it everyday and had no idea where it was

It was an item i sold on ebay....I was lucky though as the guy turned out to be a scammer and 2 weeks after i sent i got an email from paypal saying a stolen account had been used which meant i had a chargeback against me...and had the £400 taken back out again

I rang royal mail who told me that i could get the parcel back after 21days was over

I rang on the 21st day still hadnt been collected by the buyer so they said theyd send it back this was 10 days ago....So i rang again today (where the parcel was kept)and they said they didnt know where it was again
and that theyd send a claim form out today.

Sounds familiar, you really need to keep on at them, keep a log of all calls and correspondence, get names of people you speak to, ask for the supervisor, go to your local sorting office, contact Post watch.
Its a real pain but if you don’t you WILL get shafted.

Wasn't it you that sold something on Ebay for a similar amount and then posted it without any form of recorded delivery at all only to be surprised when Royal Mail washed their hands of it? I could be wrong but your story seems very similar.

No....dont think so :S

I mostly always use special delivery...for the price it costs its worth it IMO

I think the last time i posted about this was when i thought the guy seemd dodgy but i still went ahead and posted it

Ive got the claim form today and its got a section on there for ebay claims and asks for all the emails from paypal and the buyer....So if i send these aswell which im printing out now i may have a better chance of getting me money back :HOPE:
