RROD! FFS

There I was playing MGS HD collection, then.... just froze. Turn off/on and its now got the RROD. Bit gutted but it is an old console. One of the first I think with the old skool hd cables rather than a HDMI connection.

So. Wheres the best place for a new XB360.

...Or do I buy PS3?!

TBH I dont play that many games on it. So a little reluctant to buy a new one. Anything I can try except the usual google results?

Did you play the originals?

Ive just, well - almost, finished paying through MGS3 HD to begin with then I was going to start MGS2. Its been nice to play through it as they were pretty epic games, and still are IMO. I wouldnt pay full price mind, so buy it second hand if you can.

I did play one on my playstation. You fight the ninja. Also drive a buggy at the very end

Working again now. The heatsync on the gpu was proper PROPER hot. Fans are going like f**k too.

The case is open permanantly though. Might install some DIY cooling.

Running the case open wont do it any good tbh, they are designed to pull air continuously through so its cools the processors. If its open the airflow will not be as good as it should be.

Get a cheapo 360 Elite Jasper model from eBay minus the HDD. Then simply pop your hard drive into it when it arrives. My Jasper has been fine for quite some time now.

I have an equally old unit sitting around, was replaced by microsoft on warranty for RROD about 2 years ago, if you want it cheap let me know.

Mine is definitely quieter than the normal models and doesn't heat up as much either.
