RS 182 ECU Reset

  Black 197
Hi All,

Dont know if this is in the right section so move if need be..

So to my problem.. I have an 04 RS 182 and i keep getting the engine management light coming on when using cruise control, Its been diagnosed with a " Intermitant brake pedal position sensor fault " using a diagnostic machine, Now when cleared it goes and doesnt return until i use the cruise control again, Now i know i can get it reset each time but my local garage charges £20 a pop which i know aint a biggie but obviously once or twice a month is wasted money imo.. I will get the switch replaced in a few weeks come payday but is there a way to reset the ECU to clear the fault without using a garage ?? I've heard of the battery unplugging but will it clear it and does it damage anything ?? Sorry for the newbie question but i thought i'd ask before disconnecting the battery

Thanks

Not really. Once logged it must be cleared by a machine, so self removal on the car unless the fault is not valid no more.

But it seems that this fault will keep the light on.

Easiest way is just to live with it till its fixed.
