Sounds fine, you can change the .rst to the 6500 though and run the newer and probably better cal that I listed above. Just backup your original!

the .rst will take a while, the .cals take seconds. Just remember to backup your original .rst and .cal before loading anything new!!

Bet I dont get this in before Dan replies (cnut ;) )

You can change your .rst file to either

6400_2A07.rst
6500_5404.rst

But you must put on the correct .cal file to match the .rst file...

so

6400_2A07.rst use either 6400_2A07 RON98 aug 2008 .cal or 6400_5402 RON98 aug 2008 .cal

For 6500_5404.rst use either 6500_5404 RON98 june 2009.cal or 6500_5B03 RON98 july 2009.cal

Edit basically just match the first few numbers if using a 6400_xxx.rst load on a 6400_xxx.cal file..likewise with 6500_xxx load on a 6500_xxx.cal file :)

Probably the same as the 6500 july one just for the 6400 .rst format?! Im sticking with what I have to see what bhp change I get with a v6 box at our RR day in Oct. Plus I gained 5bhp and 1 l/b ft of torque with this map and I had put my cat back in!

182 manifold coming next year though :)

I thought about a 182 mani but have read on here it makes naff all difference.

My next purchase will be matched inlets I reckon :)

What?! lol, it was the main difference between the 172 and 182 engine wise to gain the extra power, bs it makes no difference. Also makes it 10 times easyier to change the cat and de-cat around as you can do it at home with less hassle! Inlets however are more of a toss up if yours are already decent or not, so might be £200 down the drain, but granted they are worth doing but I doubt ill do mine, rather spend £200 elseware.

Can of worms it seems Dan!

Summary

1)panel filter £35 token benefit
2)matched inlets £dependant on company but £ for £ the most effective mod you can do to the 172/182. Usually £150, 7bhp ish
3)182 manifold on 172? dont bother £££££ benefits unproven
4)decat £150 fitted, worthwhile midrange torque increase
5)cat back, a proper one teamed with a map can see good gains, but to me its more about the noise! worth doing as the standard renault pos will fall off in the next 5mins anyway
6)remap 100% yes, around £350 but think make sure you do it last, tuning is addictive and before long you will want CAMS!!!!!!!

which are next.... ;)

Good read and some knowledgeable people posting which is always good :)

So in that case, what causes the 182 to have roughtly 5-10bhp more than a 172? The manifold must be part of it, otherwise it wouldnt have been changed.

I just painted my inlets, cba to get another set and repaint them again :( I will be happy if I can make over 170bhp with the V6 box and panel filter on. Still tempted to fit a 182 manifold though tbh. A 172 Cup on the FMS rollers made over 180bhp with a 182 manifold, de-cat, filter, exhaust and matched inlets!!

Was a bit of both...Manifold to increase mid range torque it seems, the map seems to be a major contributing factor too?? Plus id imagine cams are slightly different??

I knew I wasn't going mad! :)

Id like to of seen what he would of got with a 172 Mani on...As the flow in a 4-1 is apparently better, although this doesn't mean power will necessarily increase/decrease but I reckon it would of produced the same power just with slightly lower torque??

thing is 4-2-1 manifolds are known to be a better design than 4-1's, but like said in that other thread, for the hassle involved the gains are minimal! Still tempted to get one tbh as then I can change between a cat for long trips to a de-cat in 30 minutes without having to get a bill from a garage everytime to swap! What arsehole designed the 172 manifold :(

anyway back to the rs tuner subject lol.

all sorted now loads better when i used the files as mentioned. feel alot more 'pokey'.

thanks again for all your help greeny.
