RT owners please help

Hello,

Went to look at a clio RT with my friend today, looked a nice tidy little car but one thing bothered me the VIN plate that i have on my 16v on the front of the car drivers side under the bonnet was not there on the RT, it had the number stamped onto the suspension turret but no VIN plate, it was a N reg one 1996, does your cars have VIN plates or were they not fitted to these vehicles............i know its possibly a daft question but the car was clean, had the log book and service history etc just no VIN plate

mate on my rt whish was an m plate so series 2 it was stamped on the turret as well, a red colour,lots of little dots,its okay,think this should help

Yeah this one was stamped on the turret but had no VIN plate, does your cars have a VIN plate as well as the stamped bit on the turret??

Thanks brun, yeah my clio has one too hence the confusion, i really dont think the car is dodgy but its worrying!!

my car hasn.t got a vin plate, at all. But the etching, engine and chassis numbers all match up and its HPI clear. Plus i just couldnt pass up the chance to get a valver cheap.

im gettnig the impression that phase 2 clios had the vin plate inside the door and not under the bonnet at all.............what you reckon??

Mate honestly dont worry about it. My car is a phase 3 and doesnt have the vin plate under the bonnet, its on the drivers door frame.

I was a bit worried at first but then I read in my haynes manual that it can be in either place on a clio.

its better being behind the door anyway ...makes the engine bay neater..as the vin plates tend to get all scaley and manky looking!

ive got a N reg 96 RT, got vin plate in the engine bay and numbers on the turret. not sure if any inside the car, havnt looked
