RT Suspension

I know its been asked hundreds of times but I really need opinions of others. I doubt my Clio has had new suspension since new and that was a long time ago!Im after new shocks and springs and Im wondering who does the best set for the cheapest price... Im after a 40mm drop if possible with new shocks too and Im running 195/45/16s. Clearance isnt an issue as the liners will come out. Can people please give me some prices and manufacturers. Id be really grateful... thank you!

top gear near highfields(adwick) do it dirt cheap, springs were about 35 quid when i got some ages ago, and about 50 notes to lower torsion bar. definately try and get a quote with someone who knows paul with you and youll struggle to find it cheaper. this was about 18 months ago for a 1.8 rsi so it should be similar

well im gettin a Bilstein Streetline kit, and thats as cheap as they come for full kits

but its still got Bilstein quality though so you cant go wrong, and ive been in an RT with this suspension and it was pretty good

I got my back box from Top Gear, do they do kits, because I need the shocks too, plus -40mm would be better.

I was gonna get the Bilstein kit but its a -35mm kit and Id have hated myself not spending another £50 only to find it wasnt low enough...

Cheers Craggy... John said you raced him... he was very surprized at how well you did... Nice one mate!

So Top Gear would be the place to fit it then, cool... saves going to Rotherham!

Anymore suggsetions?

well ive had the kit fitted today and its cool

its only lowered 20mm at the front at the moment but ive just come home 100 miles so the springs should have bedded in a bit now and be closer to 30+

Is that kit any good... Info would be appreciated. Im still curious about this Top Gear, Craggy can you please give me some info on the kits they do?

Also anyone knowing of a 40mm kit... Id be very greatful!

The Apex kit is a 40mm drop I think. You buy them from Carnoisseur or Motech.

Thats the only set Ive seen, are there any others... that arent nearly £50 more than the -35mm set of Bilsteins? Does anyone think its a major difference? Also which would be better considering Ive got a set of 195/45/16s?

well its fairly firm mate, but the handlin is definitely better all round, im pleased with the result

i wouldnt say it was too firm

its Bilstein quality too, you cant go wrong for the price, or even if it was higher

By firm you mean? Very uncomfortable, or just a bit bumpier over bad surfaces? And what does the ride height look like? Because I want the wheels to fit perfectly into the arches, not inside and with as little arch gap as possible. You noticed a big difference in the handling. Better turn in would be a big bonus, mine tries to ground... Cheers for the info btw.

its just a bit bumpier

the ride height for me is perfect at the back, Nick Hill did a wicked job on my torsion bar

the front is still too high for my liking but the springs need 2-4 weeks to bed in apparently to get there proper lowerin amount, once they have gone down then the wheels should look perfect, for me anywayz, i will post a pic as soon as i have one

the handlin has definitely improved, and performance has too funnily enough, the front of the car doesnt lift up as much, by quite a lot to be honest, so more of the power is transferred

Are you running 15s or 16s?
Another thought I had was mating 40mm springs with Bilstein shocks, Ive seen a lot of people who do that, would that work out better priced?

not really as this kit is a good price, the dampers bought individually would probably cost as much as the kit which has springs

the kit does come with 35mm springs, and there not cheap ones, there Terra, almost as expensive as Eibach

im running konis and -55mm Pi springs with about 290lbs\in....they make your balls shake!!
not allot of travel, and if you shake the car whe its parked, itll just wobble on the tyres.

  FRST and 106 GTi

Im using at the moment Koni Sport with clio 16v springs. Its stiff enough for this roads. :/
You ppl could roll your cars in here... its always a slalom challenge eheh.

Sorted... hows this setup... Eibach 40mm springs on Pi shockers... the prices is quite nifty... £320 all in including the torsion bar adjusting... Im over the moon!

I used to have a 93 clio 1.4RT five door. I lowered it 35mm on front and 62mm on the back. I used PI springs and Sachs shocks. Well worth a try quite cheap to. If you want pick or more info email me vi1@kbnet.co.uk

craggy

I just rang them and as soon as they said "£320" I booked it straight in... didnt even ring anyone else! Not seen John for ages, hes fallen out with me He says youre pretty mad though, says youll race anything! Once I get the car done youll have to pop down Warners one night and well meet up. Andi
