Depends what you want to do with it, to clay yes you can use soap and water, won't work if you actually want to quick detail the car!

stupid question but if the car has dust etc on it and you qd it wont you induce swirls???

Depending on the level of dust - yes though on light colours you may get away with it, anything more than very very light dust removal on Black is a no no.

i just brought an in line water filter so i'm going to rinse down the car then qd it or spray some duragloss on it
