running in new engines

er maybe i can help i nailed my gt turbo5 from new and have had no probs with it , infact its been a gem . the ladyz love it when i give it some from cold and the frothy white clouds come pouring out the exhaust ;) you should try nailin yours if you havent already

Thats the manurfatcures recomended break in doesnt mean its the right one.

Manurfacturers have other consideration other than max power and economy when hey tel you thow to bed the engine in.

Give it some revs from new will help the rign make a good seal on the liners so youll get less blowby more MPG more power and less oil burn.

Engines should last almost forver with correct treatment ie gently from cold and proper servicing.

when dealers get cars in they thrash them round from new and if they have to drive your car to find a fault they drive around in 2nd gear at 40mph for an hour go and pic up some dinner and say they cant find owt wrong with the car

Ive never run a car in the manufactures way.

Thrash the hell out of them and they will be rapid!!!
but you will regret it in the long term...

Long long term maybe but how long do most people keep the cars.

I think we already estabilished that in the 7 miles before you pick up the car (or 100 in my case) it gets an absolute shafting. So you may as well not worry too much. Just let it warm up properly before driving it hard and perhaps only use full power sometimes as opposed to all the time until you have reach the run in mileage.
