Did anyone get one of these in the end? They are now available for £385 from Empire Direct and I'm seriously thinking of getting one at that price.

Nope it's the Samsung WS32Z409TQ(x).. I think that model's just a standard CRT Gav.

I've seen the odd person commenting on the geometry problems but as my LCD is now fcuked for £385 I'm prepaired to take a risk.. Can't be worse than my current tv lol

I know mate but £385 vs £800 is some differance. If it was a case of "for 10% more......" then fine..

Plus for every person with an issue I've read 10 positive reviews so it doesn't seem to be affecting every set. At the end of the day if there are "issues" I'll get a refund anyway.

One of the lads at work bought one a couple of weeks ago. We had both read all those threads also Griff, and to a degree it does have those problems. How bad they are depends entirely on what you are looking at from what we can tell. Most the time you would never notice it, however in something like the Xbox 360 dashboard which is all straight lines you can see it. For the money I reckon it's well worth it. The images quality is far nicer than that of a cheap LCD screen.

Not quite sure what to do now..

I bought my initial LCD about 22 months ago when they were fairly new and therefore expensive. Mine cost me £1100 and that was for a "budget" make back then.

I've had 2 replacements now and the current sceeen went pairshaped earlier today -

The manufacturers response is to take it away for repairs (could be 28 days) and leave me with nothing. I don't know whether I should insist on a refund or push them to replace it with their current top model. What do you think?

I think if I was you, and knowing what the life span of these screens are, I'd just buy a new one and send that one away just on the off chance they do come through.

We've got a few of the Samsung 26" LCD screens in the office, I don't reckon they'll last long as they never get switched off!! Microsoft recommend them for colour balancing 360 titles so the colours are pretty spot on on those screens.

I know soooo many people who have had LCD units fail, in fact 3 out of the last 4 people i know have had their LCD units blow. Pretty shocking really, as 3 fails were in as many months.

Griff i bought one of the original crt samsung models, slim fit.ill find the model number later, but it only displays 1080i at 50 hz, however the new ones will display at 60hz and 50 hz, the picture through my upscaling dvd player at 1080i is faultless, i have no problems that everyone is going on about. luck of the draw, and you can access the service menu to improve things.

go for it , i will be buying the same model when i pay of my credit card this month lol
