Anyone know about YouTube Monetisation?

This might be one for @Tighten My Nuts but I'm after info on YouTube monetisation, as I don't fully understand how you actually achieve it.

So, for a while, I was chasing the requirements to reach partner status, but I did that a while ago. However, if I go to the "Earn" section in my account, it says "Not ready for payment" and that I haven't reached the payment threshold yet. The problem is, if I try to read their help sections, I can't actually find out what this mysterious payment threshold actually is?

I'm not expecting to get rich or anything, but I'd just like to understand what the requirements actually are, as I was chatting to someone yesterday and he seemed surprised that I hadn't reached the threshold.

Can anyone shed any light?

£60 a is the payment threshold I'm aware of i.e they won't send you money until you end a month with a cumulative total of £60 earned.

As for setting it up and how it all works I genuinely have no idea.

I've been monetised for almost 15 years now and even if I could remember what I did, it's changed being recognition since then!

Assume you've met the criteria to actually monetise your channel. i.e subscribers and channels views (can't remember the requirement)

You then have to reach £60 a month to be paid or it will roll over and accumulate until it reaches that.

I think you have to provide info for tax purposes too.

Interesting, thanks chaps. I submitted the tax info last year and, having reviewed my account, everything looks up-to-date as far as I can see, it appears I just haven't hit the earnings threshold.

This begs a question, what do you need to do to actually earn the £60 minimum? How many views/watch hours do you need to start earning anything? As I said, I don't care about the money, as it will be pennies, but I'm just curious as to what the actual level is, because it seems an absolute mystery.

This is the channel by the way: https://www.youtube.com/@maximumattackrallying

I can’t 100% remember from when @Scrooge and I used to do it, but think it was about 4k hours in the past 12 months and 1k subs.

Thats going back 5 years though

How come they just stopped? The channel had a hell of a lot of subscribers.
Quick google say their view counts would likely generate around £1000 a month, if they’ve broken out into course, learning resources etc then YT might not be worth the effort
