Santa Pod RESULTS - willy/VTS beater

Went to the Pod today for some 1/4 miling action with bondy, lovely weather for once but not very warm but no rain which was good. Great drive up there with me and bondy tearing through the empty M25 and M1, and on the way back had sh*t loads of car-on-car action with a Porsche,badboy 323i which didnt give up at all, all the way till 130mph where i thought it was best to back off! Even bondy attempted a go with a brand new 7 series bmw which was fairly amusing.

Me and bondy had several races against each other up the strip, then i got hold of a non-cliosport member who owned a Williams and asked him to a dual up the strip. He said "Yeah why not?"

I also got hold of a VTS which wasnt slow and also a Lotus exige which got past pretty convincingly...............

the guy in the williams obviously cant drive surely

16.5 ???????????? my old valver was quicker than that, and at the pod

quickest time he got was 16.01 i think - that was against bondy and dont have the results.

He was very surprised and both me and bondy were far quicker to 60 then him, also pulling veyr hard in 3rd.

He was honestly surprised - and didnt look to happy about it..............

im not surprised ........even a muppet shud be able to run 15s in a willy unless theres summat wrong with it

well the results are there mate. Not saying willys dont run under 16s cos obviously some do but this one didnt and looked mint to me. It just couldnt keep with me to 60, and in the 1/4 mile the first 60 mph is just as important as the last 40/50mph.

i dont think its just SOME willys that run under 16 secs .....its ALL of em , like i said unless theres summat wrong with either car or driver. not taking anything away from u guys gettin into the 15s is a big achievement for a standard valver

well done aaron mate, you dont know how much i wanted to spring a surprise on you and turn up for a race but i was at work today. im pretty sure i can see 15s @ york this year in the vts. will be interesting to see

just one more thing, hope that vts didnt do w**k, cos george off ssc ran 15.5 in his standard vts at pod, which is about 15.7-15.8 at york

this willy was low mileage perhaps it needs running in? but wernt that quick like we all say any muppet can 1/4 mile but some cars are slower than others. by the way mine and arrons are both knocking on for 150 bhp

i got 15.9 - i have decat/exhaust

vts got 15.53 - he had exhaust and induction

convienently lost the bit of paper.....................no honestly i did , cant find the bugger.....

yeah was really surprised, fair play to the bloke. His wasnt standard though and nor is mine, however his mods may have played a slight advantage as the saxo engines are apparently fairly responsive to tuning unlike the clio engines but i now know the vts are not slow and do give them alot of respect.

Although the difference on the twisties could be interesting.?

16.5 seconds for the Williams?! What gear was the guy starting in?!?! Chalk another one up to the Saxo VTS though!
