scorpion de cat annoying the hell out of me

  CBR1000RR Fireblade
hello, i have a scopion de cat on my 182 and i think it is too long. well, im certain it is too long actually.

is this a common problem?

has anyone had this before?

it is pushing my exhaust out about 20mm further at the rear than the standard cat does.

what were peoples fixes for this?

thanks

Yes its too long, but on the RS192 system it makes the top of the tail pipes poke out the perfect amount (on mine)

i have the rs192 cat back exhaust as well, the exhaust sits too far back (towards the end of the car) and my tailpipes are poking out 15 / 20mm past the back of the car. plus the middle exhaust hanger being stretch to hell and the rear brackets being on the limit on the adjustment for the sliders.

  None :(
I have the same system inc de-cat, and think they stick out a bit more, but it has never really bothered me tbh.

  CBR1000RR Fireblade
the sticking out doesnt overly bother me, its the fact that it keeps eating exhaust hangers when the engine rocks and pushes the exhaust back when the hangers are on their limits anyway

looks like its not a common thing then, im going to butcher the de cat i think. i shall be cutting a section out of the middle of it 20mm wide and welding it back up. if this doesnt solve the problem ill buy a yozza de cat or something similar

Is it not more to do with the fact that the standard cat has a kink in it? I.e it isn't 100% straight, where as the decat is, pushing it out marginally.

Yozza decat has a kink so is same as standard cat in terms of fitment iirc.

thanks bud, yozza will be the way forward if i cant sort the scorpion de cat out

i just had a look at the CAT and the flange on the end is welded on at a slight angle. i didnt notice this with the de cat so i think that could be contributing to it

I had a Scorpion decat. It was too long and made my exhaust sit to one side.

Decided to buy a Yozza decat, slapped it on, Perfect!.

You can see the build quality is much better. The Yozza decat is made of a thicker more sturdy material, its got a slight angle on it and its the right length!.

Also it doesn't have that flimsy flange bit like the scorpion. Its actually fixed in one position so you can't fit it wrong!.

sound bud, thanks for that. ill be going the same as you then i reckon.

scorpion decat up for sale, £40

My scorpion decat made my engine management light come on too.

I've had it off 2 weeks now and it hasn't come on once. I'm not sure if thats coincidence though.

I think any decat will make your eml come on if you have the second lambda in the decat pipe.

It comes on even faster if you remove the second lambda ( I did this and the light came on after 20 miles with a fault code; secondary lambda sensor failure )

EML as in limp home "WTF" won't rev above 3k mode?

Don't think so. I think you're on about the emissions light.

No I mean the engine management light. not limp mode.

Yeah that happened to me. I cleared the code a few times and its never come back on.

I just put the lambda back in and I drive around with the EML on. It doesn't bother me tbh

I have the full RS192 system and decat and sits perfect. I think it might be worth having a play around with the fitment, especially with the mani - cat and cat - mid pipe connections.

surely it's worth a few hours fiddling than another £400

I like the exhaust mate, I'm no changing that. I will be just changing the de cat pipe to a yozza if I can not sort the scorpion one out Bud

Soz to dig an old thread.. but having the same issue.

2 month old system was renault cat to rs192.

have just fitted the decat to 2 month old rs192 and its sticking out as described on hanger limits. I used a brand new mani/cat gasket and had major problems getting the two nuts on after the springs?

cups in manifold are 100% seated correctly as i used clamps to get them on.

Any suggestion this is a problem due to the brand new gasket not being beddedin. Or do folk have another solution?

What I found was that the de cat pipe was ever so slightly longer than the catalyst. That's what was causing the issue with my car. IIRC, I resolved it by shortening the de cat pipe to make everything fit.
