Scratch removal - any help gratefully received!

  Toyota Corolla T3
A few months ago I noticed that a long scratch had appeared down the side of my car - it looks like someone has gone down it with a sharp implement

The scratch is probably about 1/3 of a mm deep - you can feel it when you run your hand over the paintwork

So far T-cut and a 'chip stick' (which is just a wax crayon as far as I can see) have not done the job.

Has anyone had past experience of removing these types of marks, or is it a body shop job??

Also, I have loads of swirl marks all over the car (from before I owned the car).

Would you recommend scratch-x to get these out?

Cheers!

I would say body shop, the panel it on will be very noticable and a poor repair could make it look worse. Probably looking at about £130 - £200 depending where you get it done though unfortunately as they will have to blend it in well.

As for the swirls, Scratch X will have an effect but if they are all over the car might be worth getting a machine polish, will look a lot better and takes a lot less time and elbow grease!

that scratch will polish out but its 50/50 as to whether it will need wet flatting first.

if you have a rotary or know someone with one then ide suggest giving it a decent flat with P2000 then mop it up with G3.

99% confident it wont need painting

Doe your nail catch in the scratch, if you rub a wet finger over it ! - does it disapear for a moment ?
