Scratches/Scrapes on car - best way to remove?

  Clio MK2 1.2 16v
I have some scratches/scrapes on the bodywork of my car and I'm wanting to somehow cover them up. However I'm not sure the way to do this, I was thinking of sanding the area down spraying it with primer, then the colour of the paint and then the lacquer - Is this the best and easiest way to do this? I have some pictures to show what they're like, they seem to show up a lot worse on pictures

This one is on the passenger door:

None of them are from me by the way :p Some of them were already there when I bought the car and others a probably from other drivers in the University car park. My car is also in desperate need of a wash atm.

Where would be the best place to buy the paint? I know halfords sell Renault black but I'm not sure if it will be the correct shade.

When sanding down the area, should I do it until I see the metal?

No definitely not, some of those scratches look like they may need filler too. Without sounding knob i'd leave it to a pro as it will more than likely look worse than when you started

Hmmm that sounds pricey, there's a body place not far from me so I might drive down and see what they say.

It'd be for the best mate, you don't want to spend money yourself then have to pay out again for a body shop to sort it out.

A going over with a machine polisher might tidy them up a bit, to get rid completely would be as above though.

Is a machine polisher the one that you can also use to remove swirl marks etc? It might be worth for me to buy one so I can also polish the whole car at the same time; it will also save from going to a body shop as I'm not too bothered about having them completely covered, long as they don't look as back as they do now.

I think my most important question is, could I muck up my paint work using one of these since I've never done anything like that before?

If I was you, i'd clean the paint up with some polishing compound (Even T-cut will do it!) and then buy a touch up pen from Renault. Take your time touching it in and it will take your eye off it if you make a nice job of it.

They are all low down on the car so they'll be hidden by the reflection of the floor ime. I wouldn't advise this if the scratch was down the door or across the bonnet for example.

There's also one on the drivers door a few inches above the 16v bullet too that I didn't picture haha. I seriously didn't think it would be such a big job to fix

Try wet sanding with 2000 grit and use a rotary polisher with a medium compounding pad and some g3 at 1700 rpm but be careful do four stokes with the sand paper and see if the defect is removed then polish with the buffer...however some do look deep but the worst youll do with the polisher is burn through and it'll need painting .... So worth a try
