If i wanted to record about an hours worth of video on an SD card roughly what size would i need?

What sort of video from what camera? 1 hour continuous or various clips?
1 hour continuous could be a problem as (depending on the camera and type of video you are recording) the file size can never be larger that 4GB due to the FAT format of the cards.

ok thats cool it'l be on a lumix fs30 and i reckon in about 10 minute various clips.

Can't help you on an estimate for the camera but normally the manual gives you some idea of how much you will need. Might be worth having a look.
