selling up after a week

  valver
after having my valver 4 a week its beeing sold, because i want a car that i can trust and will spend more time on the road than off it, though i would of liked it a bit longer for the performance and looks, are the new clio any better ie the 172 or are they a bag of w**k under the looks and performance?

There always gonna be better as there newer. Servcing cost are around £150 for a minor service. Mechanically there not bad. How its been look after with RS models is a big factor!!

easy now.your looking at a modern car with all the tricks and performance of something much more expensive..........If you want bang out performance with a trick look with all the toys then look no further than a full fat 172

Agree, tbh, thats why I said how its been look after. A Ragged 172 will cause more problems than a well look after valver. The plus of a problematic newer car is the warranty, not having to find the cash.

My 172 was a ragged demo, 20+ warranty claims in 21months. 182 8 months no warranty claims and has been cared for since day1.

Or a bit of both like mine. First 3 months of ownership, had 5 things go wrong, nothing too bad. The last 9 months, not a single thing has gone wrong. Hell, a rattle even cured itself.

Superb :approve:

I've owned my valver since march and it has only let me down once, due to me ignoring the duff alternator!

i wouldnt say they are any more unrelaible than most cars of that era.. just depends what kind of owners they have had.

It's a Reno, don't expect Audi reliability and build quality... you wont get it...

Newer ones spend just as much time on the ramps, you basically have to just hope your lucky when it comes to buying these types of car. If you want something reliable, buy from a different car manufacturer tbh.

I ahve hazd no problems with mine and done 26 k miles in a year!!

This includes 3 trackdays, have replaced all discs and pads though, 3 sets of fromt tyres and only just changes the backs from the originals

Edit forgot the engine mount debacle lol!!

I would say by and large the newer cars are more reliable. But they're bound to be - they're much newer, have generally covered a lot less miles, are better built (it's all relative I know, they're all bad but the newer one less so) bodywork much more corrosion resistant etc.

BUT

Personally I wouldn't buy a Renault without a warranty. lol.

My valver has given me over three years off trouble free motoring!

Well almost, only thing I can remember is a dodgy lambda sensore about 2years ago....

Like any car, buy a good one and it'll be fine.
